About AussieTally
AussieTally is a self-funded, independent project built to make Australians’ views easier to see and harder to misrepresent.
Too often, politicians and commentators claim to know what Australians want without showing how they know. We believe those claims should be open to challenge, with evidence people can examine for themselves.
AussieTally gives people living in Australia a place to vote privately on federal issues and see how others voted. The results are public and free to download, so anyone can explore the numbers, draw their own conclusions and question how they’re being used.
Why we built it
We believe public debate is better when people can see the views behind the claims, rather than relying on whoever has the loudest voice or the biggest platform.
Inspired by Swiss democracy, we want to make people’s views more visible between elections and bring more evidence into discussions about Australia’s future.
What the results mean
AussieTally shows the views of people who choose to take part, which means the results don’t represent all Australians.
We’re independent of government, and votes here aren’t official election or referendum votes. We explain how the results are collected and counted, including their limits, so you can judge what they tell you.
Who’s behind AussieTally?
I’m Regan, the founder of AussieTally. I started this project because I wanted a clearer way to see what people think about the issues affecting Australia, without having their views filtered through someone else’s argument.
I fund the project myself, and I’m committed to being open about how it works and how it develops.
